SB (5) : 1. Mortlock’s Rascal Ruby Look No Further, 9mths dark silver br/wh bitch with well turned head, scissor bite, adequate bone, neat feet, a shade long caste and would benefit from a little more angulation at the rear, moved better coming than going. 2. Mortlock’s Treacle Toffee, 6mth old tri bitch, a little overawed by the occasion and should be better next time out, showing good bone, tight feet, nicely turned head though with a soft expression, scissor bite, a shade long caste, would not settle on the move and could not be assessed.
PD (8) : 1. Mathison’s Notorious Joker of Blazinbully, 11mths quality white terrier with flowing bodylines, adequate bone, straight front and neat feet, nicely turned head with good finish and scissor bite, keen expression, well angulated at the rear, moved well coming but close going, pressed in the challenge but was outgunned (BPIB Res BD & BPIS). 2. OB (6) : 1. Heath & Morris’s Bluepoint Firebird, 3 yr mature, well balanced red smut, substantially built, heavy boned but retaining femininity, well turned head, scissor bite, wide ear set which detracts from expression, strong neck into good shoulder, a shade long caste, well made quarters, moved pretty well both ways (BOS,RBOB,RBIS). 2. Hamilton’s Ebullient Lady Ebony, bl/br/wh just out of puppy, well turned head with scissor bite. well set ears, eyes a little round detracting from expression, long neck into good shoulder, straight front, good bone and neat feet, a shade long caste, well made quarters. Moved pretty well both ways. 3. Cusic & Egan’s Lady Muskatelle Credetta.
This is an excellent Club with shows organised by the hard working committee with the enjoyment of both exhibitors and spectators being paramount. This was rewarded with an excellent entry and a full ringside. Mini’s were back on the Schedule which was good to see.
One general comment, I do not think I have used the phrase “adequate bone” so often. Yes, everything on a bull terrier should be in proportion but the Standard calls for the “strongest type of round quality bone”.

Alizarin Sugar Babe
Miller Memorial Trophy (Judge: Keith Goodwin)
Ormandy plate - Best dog
Winner kocaba’s Badlesmere berties brother, A well-presented upstanding black brindle well-proportioned male, he stood fore square and well angulated throughout, he has a very good alert expression, his ears are well placed, his head is adequate however he would benefit from a bit more fill, a long neck on to well angulated shoulders, a straight front, a short coupled body of depth and width, his rear angulation is excellent, he stands on good feet bone was good and movement was typical. Very well presented.
Hesketh cup - Best bitch
Wilsons Alizarin sugar babe, a white girl of many attributes not least her head which is long strong filled and powerful, I found her animation good which gave her a good expression, her neck is long and leads to well-placed shoulders, she stands on a straight front, she has a shapely substantial body which is coupled well, short backed, rear angulation was powerful and drove her along well, bone was more than adequate and she stands on good feet.
Sugar babe was also my choice for the Miller memorial trophy for best dog or bitch and the Bullyview gentle breeze cup for best condition; I must add both exhibits in this category were in excellent condition and very well presented indeed.

May I take this opportunity to thank one or two people for making this, my first time awarding Challenge Certificates, one of the memorable days in my life. Firstly, to the Committee of The Northern Provincial Bull Terrier Club for the wonderful opportunity to judge such a prestigious show and the efforts they all put in; prior to and including show day made it a success before any of us even stepped into the ring. Thank you.
To the exhibitors, who humbled me with their entries, coupled with their sportsmanship and good grace at my decisions, Thank you.
