THE MILLER MEMORIAL TROPHY (Judge Jimmy Henderson)
Judge Jimmy Henderson reviews the exhibits challenging for the Hesketh Cup for best bitch.
The winner of the Ormandy Plate for best dog was Javarke Karbon Kopy at Rabram, a short cobby and very attractive bl/br. Great head with turn, fill and power, mean eye, correct ear set. Long strong neck, short powerful deep body. Good front, decent quarters, moved well when settled, carries a slight mouth fault. This is a dog with great virtues to offer the breed and these virtues won him the deserved award on the day.
Another dog competing that I have always admired was Badlesmere Bertie's Brother. A lovely bl/br with heavy bone and power throughout without losing quality. A super showman with good movement and true bull terrier character. Pushed hard for best dog and was a credit to his ownner.
Very eyecatching attractive bl/br bitch. Long turned and filled head, with correct scissor bite. Powerfull arched neck, deep brisket, dead straight front and good strong quarters. On the whole an upstanding shapely bitch that showed and moved well that has great potential. Congratulations must go to her young handler who did a superb job presenting her to me and the very appreciative ringside. It was a great pleasure to award her the Hesketh Cup for best bitch , the Miller Memorial Trophy for overall winner of the trophy competition and the Bullyview Gentle Breeze Cup for best condition.
Another bitch I have always admired was in there pushing hard, Bluepoint Firebird, an upstanding substantial red, with lovely long filled head, correct mouth, good front. Very powerfull throughout and showed and moved well. Superbly handled right through the competion. Any novice coming into the show game should take note of how these two bitches are presented and shown by their excellent handlers.

I was delighted to be invited to this old and established Club’s open show to judge Minis and thank the exhibitors for showing under me and the committee for their hospitality.
BD, BOB, BP - Wengormick Petite Pirate
BB RBOB - Wengormick Petite Playgirl
Junior Dog (1)
1st - Whittakers’ Wengormick Petite Pirate - White with black eye patch 9 months old puppy dog. Super long unbroken profile, filled and turned, with correctly placed eye, giving a pleasing expression. Correct mouth. Well made throughout with tight fitting jacket and scored brownie points with me for short back and good length of neck. Decent angulation front and back and moved straight coming and going. Nice quality youngster with time to mature and I will watch him with interest. BD, BOB and BP
Open Dog (4/2)
1st - Armitage’s Diesirae King Oberon - Two and a half year old red dog. Heavyweight with maximum substance and head to match. Good profile, maximum fill and good muzzle width. Slight mouth fault. A little long cast and moved a little wide coming but nonetheless a virtuous dog.
2nd - Jennings’ Grandopera Sundance Kid - 18 month brindle dog. Another nice one, but different, terrier type. Unexaggerated head, but would prefer a little cleaner in profile. Correct mouth. Super short back and excellent feet. Reasonable movement. Nicely presented and handled.
Junior Bitch (3/1)
1st - Whittakers’ Wengormick Petite Playgirl - 9 months brindle bitch. Quality, feminine young lady with decent angles and good short back. Neat feet and active mover. Tail carried a little high. Unbroken profile and excellent eye, giving good expression, but just lacks a little in depth and width of muzzle at the moment, but plenty of time. Correct mouth. In lovely condition. BB and RBOB
2nd - Kettleborough’s Wengormick Petite Pandora at Bullysoul - 9 months black/br bitch. Another nice one, litter sister to above. Currently a little unbalanced as bum high, but maturity should resolve that. Slightly kinder eye than her sister, but I was splitting hairs.
Open Bitch (4/2)
1st -Gardner & Twyman’s Bullypins Mystique into Laronbelle - Bl/br 18 months bitch. Good length of head and unbroken profile, but would prefer more width and depth. Piercing eye and expression. Correct mouth. Somewhat long cast and still to body up. Moved with drive and impulsion both ways. Well fitting shiny jacket and presented and handled to perfection.
2nd - Armitage’s Diesirae Tribal Narcissus - 2 and a half year old red bitch. Beautiful head filled, packed and turned, but still feminine. Correctly placed eye and decent earset giving good expression. Would have preferred her shorter in the back , but good depth of brisket and width of loin. Correct tailset. Moved a little wide coming. Well presented. A lovely bitch; unfortunately her cross to bear is her mouth and today I just couldn’t get past that.
I wish to thank The Northern Provincial BTC on the judging invitation and also a big thank you to all exhibitors for their entries.

It was lovely to have the opportunity to judge the show. Thanks to the exhibitors for their lovely entry… and the committee for their hospitality! I had a really lovely day.
1st A Mini Rumpus Red Panda
Very striking, masculine young dog with a brilliant head, an abundance of fill, arc and dome with a definite roman finish. He has a very keen expression and dark triangular eye, mouth is a reverse scissor. Fabulous second thigh, he moved freely and with drive, all round a good well-built and very typy dog. Pleased to award him Best of Breed and especially thrilled when he went on to BIS on a referee’s decision.
2nd Tuskenada Show Prince
Lovely showy young dog, slightly leggy and much less mature than the winner. Lovely head, with sweeping arc but not the power in width and fill. He had a good dark eye and correct mouth. Rather loose on the move but I’m sure this will improve with maturity. An attractive and typy dog
1st Tuskenada Anais Anais with Transcend
A very showy little white who gives it her all in the ring. Very mature for her age, she has a lovely feminine head with sweeping arc and plenty of width and fill, with a correct mouth and brilliant expression. She moved with drive and power for such a youngster and I thought she was a lovely typy and very feminine bitch.
2nd Javarke Wee Wild Child
A very small, very feminine bitch with a lovely arc and excellent roman finish, although I would have liked a little more width and fill, she has a correct mouth and a keen expression. She was a little long and slightly upright in shoulder but moved well each way, very pretty and typy
1st – Wengormic Petite Pirate
An extremely handsome and masculine dog, with a lovely strong head and keen expression. He has an abundance of fill and his head is very deep and wide, with a perfect mouth. Very typy and excellent on the move, particularly behind as he powers off his back end. A little over-sized but this doesn’t take anything away from him when he is showing it all off - he is a stunning and very eye catching dog, unfortunately he refused to co-operate with his handler in the challenge.
2nd Diesirae Tribal Narcissus Pretty and very feminine bitch with a lovely head, sweeping arc, width and fill, correct expression with a very dark eye and correct mouth. She covered the ground easily and moved well in front but a little close behind. She doesn’t really make the very best of herself and needs to and learn to enjoy herself a little more in the ring.
Miniature Bull Terriers
I deemed it a privilege to judge the Northern Provincial Bull Terrier Club show, thank you for the invite and thank you to all the exhibitors that turned up on the day to support the club and myself. The hospitality was exceptional, but as a northerner myself, be it a little further north, it was what one can expect from our end of the country. A big thank you must go to the committee and to those behind the scenes that worked so hard to put on the show.
PD 1 Entry 0 Absentees
1st Mr J Duggan’s Melaimee King Oscar, WH. Dog. Head strong, just lacking a little down face and finish, mouth correct. Straight front, tidy feet, shoulders a little loaded. Short back, tail set and carried correctly. Well developed hindquarters with an adequate turn of stifle. Moved well behind and, when cooperating with his handler, ok in front.

A very useful dog indeed.
2nd Mr & Mrs R&M Leggatt’s Rabram Royal Star RBD, Typey BL/BR & White. Good head, with down face, fill and finish, one inverted canine. Straight front, pleasing body lines and sound hindquarters with a good turn of stifle. Moved better in front than rear as he tends to go close and roll a little.

Good head with an excellent expression, correct mouth, straight front although feet could have been a little tighter, sound hindquarters with an adequate turn of stifle. Nicely bodied up for a youngster. Movement difficult to assess due to lack of cooperation with handler, but in the brief glimpses I caught, she looked fine coming and going. Handler needs to work on this.
2nd Mr. S Coverdale’s Unionbulls Diamond Flame, WH. Head good but not with the expression of one, mouth correct, straight front only marred by untidy feet. Decent shoulder, topline and sound hindquarters with a good turn of stifle. Moved with drive, just going a little close, fine in front.

Keith Ramshaw (Judge)
It was a pleasure to judge Northern Provincial’s major trophies. Many thanks to the committee and exhibitors for a lovely day: I was delighted with the turn-out and depth of quality across the board, with the following winners:
Westwood’s Broken Arrow’s Peaky Blinder at Tulsadoom. Large and upstanding b+w with excellent bone and substance. Very typy and masculine with a good strong well arced head, good expression and correct mouth. Well constructed, with a correct topline into well angulated quarters which he used to good effect on the move. He made the best of himself and I was pleased to award him top honours. He also went on to pip the bitch to become the Supreme Puppy of the Year.
Bitch Puppy of the Year
An interesting line-up with a tussle for top spot, which I was delighted to award it to Moore’s My Book of dreams: a very graceful and attractive r+w lady, with a lovely clean head without exaggeration, with a good profile, finish and width with a perfect mouth. Beautifully balanced and in proportion with a lovely well-laid shoulder and topline. A good front with well angulated quarters moving well both ways – her handler worked hard: with a bit more verve to take ownership of the ring and she’d be unstoppable. Job well done and a worthy winner. Hot on her heels was Taylor’s Koellen Tri Being a Girl at Zankol: a beautifully typy tri with a gorgeous head and expression, filled to the brim, unfortunately carrying a serious mouth fault. Excellent bone and substance, she was well handled and making the very best of herself.
Dog of the Year
Gardner’s Laronbelle’s Magic Visions: Big upstanding white, with a good strong masculine head with arc and finish. Thumping bone and substance who looked a picture when he got it together in the hands of his competent handler. On the move he powered off well angulated quarters and, for me, was my best mover of the day.
Bitch of the Year & Supreme Trophy of the Year
McCann’s Ukusa Vegas at Diton. A beautiful, classical white with perfect feminine type. A lovely profile with depth, width, finish and a perfect mouth. A varminty expression she was well handled, showing off a shapely neck in to well-laid shoulders and correct topline. Toes out in front, but despite an obvious scar on the inside of her hind left leg (certificated as a former break), she is as sound as a bell on the move, moving beautifully behind off her shapely, powerful and well angulated quarters, taking the Supreme award with some in hand.
